As mentioned in this post, Dicky Barrett of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones has really come through for Golden Empire Elementary with donations for the Hardcore for Education fundraiser for Golden Empire Elementary School. (It is really important to note that Dicky has absolutely no connection to Golden Empire Elementary school aside from being interviewed by one of the 6th graders that attend the school!)

Dicky sent us this picture with his iPhone the other day. (We will post pictures once the items have been received by the school.)

Included in this package is signed BossTones merch (posters, shirts, CDs) as well as a bloody amazing surprise. Signed boxing gloves by the subject of the Mark Wahlberg movie The Fighter – “Irish” Micky Ward, former junior welterweight pro-boxer.  Amazing!

Dicky Barrett from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones is a truly solid guy.  Aside from fronting the BossTones, Dicky is also the announcer for the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on ABC.

Dicky hooked Golden Empire Elementary up with two VIP/Greenroom passes to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show.  The folks at the show let us know that these tickets are not for a specified date.  They make it pretty easy so you can utilize the tickets at your convenience.  Not only do you get to go to the show, you get choice seats and get to hang out in the greenroom before the show.

I have been a huge fan of the Canadian band Rush for decades.  There is little that I can say to quantify their musical talent that has not been said by others (and far more eloquently then is possible for me).

I came by this drumhead signed by all three members of the band Rush a few years ago when I did a small web job for their management company SRO Anthem. Rather then get paid a few hundred bucks, I asked them if they would donate something for a fundraiser for Golden Empire Elementary School. That fundraiser did not end up happening and this drumhead has been hung on my office wall ever since – with the intention that eventually it would go to benefit the school. I have thoroughly enjoyed having the loan of this signed Rush drumhead for the past couple years, but now it is time for it to go to its intended use – the benefit of Golden Empire Elementary school.

Although Rush and SRO Anthem are a little higher up on the music business food chain from our other supporters, we ask you to support them.  Please at least send them an email and thank them for supporting Golden Empire Elementary!

Hurry Up Records is based out of Dublin, Ireland and is run by Matteo Ferrari (who also does webmaster and development duties for Bridge 9 Records).  Matteo is a true standup guy who was kind enough to do a video to go along with PMAKid’s presentation to his school about choosing to live a straight edge/drug free life.  Matteo was also kind enough to donate six different 7″ records to Golden Empire Elementary for the Hardcore for Education fundraiser.  As with all of our donors, we strongly urge you to support this small label by making a purchase from them and spreading the word about their generosity.

Spending New Year’s weekend ramping up for the 2012 Hardcore for Education activities…keep an eyeball out!

You can see from our header graphic that we have some amazing donations this time around.  Details (including photos) of the donors and donations shall be coming soon (probably within hours!).

The auction is scheduled to start sometime mid to late February.  We shall be posting more information as to the school that will be the recipients of the proceeds. Watch us on Facebook or Twitter.
